Former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has stated that he built a residence for one of his predecessors, Peter Odili, now an alienated political associate.

Wike, who is presently the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, made the remark on Sunday while addressing at a Special Thanksgiving Service hosted by Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Martin Chike Amaewhule in Port Harcourt.

Following an outburst by Odili in which he claimed that Wike intended to turn the state into his personal property, the FCT Minister was responding.

According to Wike, he “personally called Julius Berger to build a mansion for Odili to live in” when he was the state’s governor.

“He (Odili) was calling everyone to the house then, telling them, come and see what Wike has done for me. Wike has showed me affection. He said, “He was showing them around the house.”

“The governor that all of us made has not spent one year in office and the same Odili was already saying that the governor has beaten the records of all the past governors of Rivers State,” Wike said, provoking Odili’s scorecard for the current governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

“What kind of elder talk is that? You served as governor for eight years, and someone who hasn’t served even a year has eclipsed your records. Should an elder statesman be recognized for that?

Wike also disclosed that “my pictures were everywhere in his house, sitting room, bedroom, kitchen, even in the toilet, when I was governor of the state.” However, as of right now, all of the pictures have been taken down.
