This is an important change since former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa was removed.

With the significant exception of Obasa, Meranda’s fellow MPs followed her to her new office. Following the official ceremony, the lawmakers came together for a symbolic group shot to show their support for her leadership.

The parliamentarians applauded Meranda’s leadership abilities in a display of solidarity, yelling, “Madam, keep up the good work; we like it.” The speaker is you, the speaker is you, the speaker is you.

“Represent Lagos. “Keep up the good work,” they added.

To commemorate the start of her term, the lawmakers gathered in the Speaker’s office and delivered heartfelt prayers.

The event comes after Obasa claimed that his impeachment was unlawful and lacked due process.

Increased security has been implemented around the Lagos State House of Assembly to guarantee a smooth transfer and continuous legislative operations.

All employees and legislative assistants were told to provide legitimate identification cards in order to enter the building, according to a notice written by Omotayo Adekemi on behalf of Acting Clerk Taiwo Ottun.

“All staff members and legislative aides must present valid identity cards to access the House premises in accordance with management directives,” the notice stated. Anyone without a valid ID card will not be allowed entry. We value your understanding and cooperation.

Police Offer Peace
Residents have received assurances from the Lagos State Police Command that law and order will be upheld throughout the state.

Ishola Olawale, the state commissioner of police, underlined the police’s restricted involvement on the Assembly grounds while also pointing out that it is their responsibility to maintain order outside and throughout Lagos.

“It is our responsibility to maintain peace outside the Assembly and throughout the state, even though the police have no business inside,” he stated.
