Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, a representative in the House of Representatives, has pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to resolve the situation in Rivers State.
He expressed regret over reports that followers of a minister in Tinubu’s administration were set on destroying the headquarters of a rival government agency, with the police allegedly turning a blind eye and failing to intervene.

According to him, this indicates that Nigeria is done.

The announcement coincides with Rivers State’s ongoing political unrest in the wake of last Saturday’s local government election.

On Monday, not long after newly elected chairman Brian Gokpa arrived, a portion of the Eleme Local Government administration was set on fire.

However, Ugochinyere asserted in a post on his X Twitter that Nigeria has previously followed similar pathways and that the results were dire.

“Nigeria is finished,” he wrote. According to reports, supporters of a minister in Tinubu’s administration are busily setting fire to the headquarters of a rival government agency, and the police haven’t intervened since the morning.

Do you realize what this means, Mr. President? Nigeria has previously followed a similar route, with deadly consequences.

“Cease the insanity that these fans are exhibiting overnight. Nigerians and Rivers People are recording all of these for you.

“The elected LGA Chairmen have taken office, and nothing these so-called Wike group can do would overthrow the governor’s democratically elected administration or alter this.
