On Sunday, President Bola Tinubu will leave Nigeria to attend the 19th G20 Leaders’ Summit in Brazil.

According to Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the president’s most recent trip was arranged at the request of Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, the group’s current president and president of Brazil.

About five days have passed since his travel to Saudi Arabia.

“President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Sunday to attend the 19th meeting of the G20 Leaders’ Summit taking place in the South American country,” Onanuga said in a statement.

Luiz Inacio Lula da  Silva., the group’s current president and president of Brazil, requested that the Nigerian leader participate.

Leaders from the top 20 economies in the world, including the European Union, the African Union, and international financial organizations, will meet at the summit, which is scheduled to take place from Monday, November 18 to Tuesday, November 19.

Participants in this year’s summit, which has as its theme “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet,” will talk about combating poverty and hunger, reforming the global governance system, sustainable development, and the energy transition.

“On the sidelines of the summit, President Tinubu is also anticipated to hold bilateral meetings to further Nigeria’s socio-economic reforms.”
