President Bola Tinubu has stated that he expects the Disciplinary Board of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to conduct a thorough investigation and recommend appropriate action against Libya.

While welcome the national team back to Nigeria, Tinubu stated that the Libyan authorities willfully broke the CAF’s statutes and regulations.

Tinubu responded on Monday through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, shortly after the team arrived home via Kano Airport.

Onanuga stated that President Tinubu is extremely touched by the inhumane treatment of Nigeria’s Super Eagles at a Libyan airport and warmly welcomes their safe return to Nigeria.

“He fervently calls on all lovers of the round-leather game and administrators to unite and work collaboratively to prevent and overcome such incidents in the future,” Onanuga noted in the statement.
