Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) stated it will begin repair work on the Ugwuaji-Apir 330kV Double Circuit transmission line this morning after lineman identified a breakdown around 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to TCN’s Public Affairs Manager, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, the fault area of the transmission line, which measures approximately one span, was discovered to be a snapped 330kV transmission line located in the marshy woodland of Igumale in Benue State.
TCN stated that preparations are already underway to mobilize equipment and materials that will be moved to the scene of the event.
The company claimed that the swampy terrain necessitated the use of a bulldozer and other items for the repair operation from its Enugu Regional headquarters to the incident site.
It was also said that a Hiab vehicle would be deployed to Igumale to assist TCN in correctly tensioning the transmission line.
“Recall that on Monday, October 21, 2024, the 215KM Uguwaji – Apir Double Circuit transmission line tripped owing to a failure, resulting in a forced power outage across the North East, North West, and sections of the North Central areas of the country. Previous attempts by two deployed teams to determine the source of the forced outage were unsuccessful until last evening.
“TCN is committed to resolving the situation as soon as possible and is already organizing the necessary materials for the repair work. We appreciate the patience of the government and the electrical users in the impacted states; please bear with us,” it said.
