At least ten Palestinians were killed by an Israeli bombardment early Thursday in a tent camp in the southern Gaza Strip that was housing displaced families.
Ten individuals, including women and children, were slain in a tent in Al-Mawasi, a humanitarian camp in western Khan Younis, according to medics.
The Israeli military has not immediately responded to reports that 15 others were also injured, according to the doctors.
The director-general of Gaza’s police force, Mahmoud Salah, and his assistant, Hussam Shahwan, were killed in the airstrike, according to Hamas-run Al-Aqsa TV.
Israel has killed approximately 45,500 Palestinians in the war in Gaza, according to enclave health officials.
Much of the small coastal strip is in ruins, and the majority of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents have been forced to flee their homes.
Israeli estimates indicate that the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israel, which resulted in 1,200 fatalities and another 251 hostages in Gaza, was the catalyst for the conflict.
