Simon Ekpa, the self-declared prime minister of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is scheduled to be extradited to Nigeria to face prosecution, according to plans released Thursday by the country’s defense headquarters in Abuja.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Chris Musa, praised Ekpa’s detention in Finland, according to Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information.

Following Ekpa’s remand on probable cause for public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist purpose in Nigeria by a Finnish district court in Lahti, the Defense Headquarters took a stand.

The government of Enugu State responded to the incident by calling Ekpa a terrorist, a fraudster, and a common criminal, claiming that he does not truly represent the interests of the Igbo people.

In addition, the government accused Ekpa of being a swindler and a murderer, saying he enjoys hurting his own people and making money off of their suffering.

Whether in Finland or Nigeria, Enugu State has stated that it is prepared to offer proof of the crimes that Ekpa committed against the Ndigbo people in order to bolster his prosecution and conviction.

This information was delivered in a statement made by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, on Friday.

“The Enugu State Government welcomes the arrest of the Finland-based terrorist, Simon Ekpa.

“There is no question that his arrest and trial will significantly improve stability, security, and peace throughout the South East.

This arrest is in accordance with the demands of the administration of Governor Peter Mbah, which has stated time and time again that Ekpa is a common criminal, murderer, fraudster, and megalomaniac who enjoys playing on the misled emotions of Ndigbo and causing suffering in the South East.

“Ekpa, who is sadly from Finland, has long made a fortune by destroying property, lives, and the Igbo hallmark of hard work and enterprise in the South East by fostering a siege mindset and climate. Under the guise of defending their interests and the restoration of Biafra, he thrives on extorting, exploiting, and manipulating the populace, according to the government.
