Oando Energy Resources is one of the main partners in reaching the clean energy and Net-Zero targets by 2060, according to Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, Minister of State for Environment.

This was revealed by the Minister during Oando Energy Resources Nigeria Limited’s official business visit to the Ministry in Abuja, which was accompanied by Managing Director Ainojie Irune and his team.

Salako praised Oando’s employees for the company’s accomplishments over the years, pointing out that it began as a tiny retail enterprise before evolving into a global conglomerate.

According to a statement made by Mrs. Olaseni Alabi, Head of the Ministry’s Press and Public Relations Unit, Salako also expressed gratitude to Oando for their sincere efforts to eliminate gas flaring inside  its operations and monitoring emissions from its production.

The Minister revealed that increasing the circularity drive and recycling and reusing plastic to guarantee sustainable energy are his ministry’s main achievements.

He asked Oando to work with other corporate organizations to meet the Energy Transition target by 2030, stressing that the Energy Transition Plan is the key benchmark that encompasses numerous public sector entities.

Mr. Ainojie Irune, the Managing Director of Oando Energy Resources Nigeria Limited, had earlier highlighted some of the company’s accomplishments and operations throughout the previous several years since it began as a downstream sector.

According to Irune, one of the biggest sources of carbon emissions is transportation, and the company is importing electric cars in order to help the environment and reach its net zero goal.

“The commitment to construction of local assembly plant to build solar panel and installation of physical mast thermo energy to reduce the use of diesel are all on the forefront burner of OANDO drive to clean energy” he stated.
