Mr Agboola Ajayi, the PDP  governorship candidate in Ondo State governorship  election in November 16, 2024, has announced his withdrawal from the appeal filed at the Supreme Court against the winner of the election, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

It can be recalled that 24 days after the governorship poll Ajayi filed a petition at the Ondo State Election Petition Tribunal against the winner of the electon, Aiyedatiwa.

Ajayi lost at both the Election Petition Tribunal and the Court of Appeal ,

The Akure Division of the Court of Appeal had dismissed Ajayi’s suit challenging Aiyedatiwa’s re-election, as well as that of Deputy Governor Olayide Owolabi Adelami, over alleged name discrepancies.

The appellate court ruled that Mr Ajayi lacked the locus standi to pursue the matter, describing the case as statute-barred.

Ajayi later proceeded to the Supreme Court to challenge the verdicts of the lower court.
