This organization has been connected to numerous cattle thefts and fatalities in the states of Sokoto and Kebbi.
According to reports, Lakurawa’s actions in Kebbi’s Augie Local Government Area have already led to the theft of more than 100 cows and the murders of 15 individuals, which is concerning given the region’s persistent security issues.
To counter this increasing threat, the government is sending more soldiers and resources, Defense Minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar said in an interview with BBC Hausa.
He underlined that in order to bring stability back to the impacted areas, new tactics are being implemented, such as the use of reinforcements and cutting-edge equipment.
According to Abubakar, “the acting Chief of Army Staff has evaluated the situation on the ground and worked with other service chiefs to develop an action plan.” “With the help of more troops and equipment, we are determined to defeat this terrorist organization.”
The chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as Chief of Defense Staff Christopher Musa, have agreed on a comprehensive strategy to address the danger, he added.
“With strategic measures and the continued prayers of citizens, we are confident that we will overcome this security challenge,” he said.
The minister reflected on recent developments and emphasized that although significant progress has been made in combating security threats in the previous year, hostile groups’ changing strategies necessitate ongoing adaptation.
With the goal of achieving long-term peace and security in the area, he expressed hope that these initiatives will stop the conflict from spreading to other states.
