This was said in a statement released on Wednesday by Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer (CCCO) of Nigeria National Petroleum Company, NNPC Ltd.
Soneye charged that certain detractors were spreading false information and impeding advancement by abusing the technical phrases of blending and refining.
According to reports, some critics of NNPCL claimed that the firm had purchased Crack C5 from the Indorama company in Port Harcourt and mixed it with naphtha before selling it to the general public as refined premium motor spirit (PMS), sometimes known as gasoline or fuel in the local dialect.
The research was dismissed by the Nigerian oil firm. Nigerians should disregard the report, the NNPCL said in a statement on Tuesday. However, we are aware that some people have made baseless assertions that the refinery isn’t making any goods.
The Old Port Harcourt Refinery is now running at 70% of its installed capacity, with plans to ramp up to 90%, the statement stated.
Soneye went on to describe the concepts of blending and refining, stating that PMS is a combination of different refining outputs rather than a single product.
“Don’t be influenced by people who use technical jargon they don’t fully understand to propagate false information or impede advancement. Refining and blending are still sophisticated and necessary steps in the creation of contemporary petroleum. In order to add value and satisfy customer demands, PMS is a carefully created blend of different refinery outputs and other middle distillates rather than a single product, Soneye said.
