Major General Adamu Laka, the National Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, predicts that Lakurawa, the new terror organisation, will be eliminated in the near future.

The terror group has fewer than two hundred members, the general revealed. Speaking in Abuja, Laka responded to the recent surge of terrorist attacks in Sokoto and other North-West regions, which were ascribed to the new terror organisation Lakurawa.

According to him, the organisation would be eliminated in the near future because the military and other security forces are monitoring the situation under the direction of National Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu.

He claims that since the group’s formation, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Minister of Defence, and other service leaders have taken a number of decisive actions to eradicate it.

The Counter-Terrorism coordinator described how the group berthed in the North-West, saying that they were called to come and offer security against robbers.

He claims that after supplying protection for a while, they have shifted their focus to taxation and revenue collection.

“In a sovereign nation, this cannot occur and will not be permitted,” Laka stated.
