President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has come under fire from the Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Idah, Most Rev. Anthony Ademu Adaji, who claims that Tinubu is turning Nigeria into a failed state.
In honor of his 60th birthday, Most Rev. Adaji made this statement on Sunday at Our Lady Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Idah.
As he discussed the state of the country with our correspondent, Most Rev. Adaji stated, “Nigeria is turning into a failing State. A State the People can not longer trust the Government. The Governor leads the State through a political party, according to the current political structure.
“We still refer to it as democracy even though all of the results of the local government elections have been announced and no other party has won any seats. In Nigeria, our country, democracy is collapsing. We cannot act as though everything is improving. Each day it is growing worse.
“Right now in our country, a cup of garri is killing people. I seem to remember that the former ambassador to Nigeria stated that Nigeria is the country with the highest concentration of black intellectuals worldwide when he visited Commission Something in Abuja. He was an American black diplomat who had served in such capacity in the past. that although there are black individuals in America, Nigerians are the most intelligent in the world.
“How can a nation like this be progressively collapsing and turning into a failed state? We are unable to act like that. Nigerian politicians are not fostering the expansion of democracy. Consequently, you cannot claim that there is no local government in a state that a certain political party controls where a candidate has no other options. I don’t think that, so this isn’t true. Politicians are consciously attempting to undermine democracy.”
The clergy claimed that the nation’s current economic problems were self-inflicted.
He said, “Nigeria has adequate resources such that no child should go hungry in the country. This country is greatly endowed with money, but the
He said, “Nigeria has adequate resources such that no child should go hungry in the country. This country is endowed with a large deal of riches, but our current situation is the result of poor wealth management. This is the predicament that Nigerians are in.
God has richly endowed Nigeria, but regrettably, over time, poor resource management has led to our current situation. Nothing can be done to stop it from getting worse; it will never get better.
The majority of Rev. Adaji gave President Tinubu’s administration a bad rating, noting that many Nigerians have been made impoverished by his government.
We cannot describe the elimination of gasoline subsidies and the rising cost of goods—many Nigerians are dying from a cup of garri and are unable to feed their families—as an administration that is progressing Nigeria. It’s not at all because we have to be honest with ourselves.
“Being truthful has no negative effects. The expense of government needs to be eliminated if the government is serious about moving this nation ahead. Giving politicians billions of naira is unthinkable, while a large number of Nigerians are starving to death as a result of their inability to pay for food.
“Such a government is unacceptable to us. It is limited to governors who have embezzled the nation’s wealth. If actions taken are ineffective or things continues like this, the nation is spelling for doom”he added.
He charged Nigerians to pray for a more united Country, stressing that, things are getting worse every day.
