Troops of Sector 3 operating under the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have successfully neutralized 5 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Kukawa and Monguno areas of Borno State, Nigeria.

The operation, which resulted in the elimination of terrorists and recovery of valuable assets, demonstrates the MNJTF’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism in the region.

The ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists had launched an offensive using suicide Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs), but were met with superior firepower from the MNJTF Troops. Following intense air and artillery bombardments, as well as a ground assault, several terrorists fled with gunshot wounds.

During the operation, MNJTF air assets destroyed 3 VBIEDs, while troops captured 40 motorbikes equipped with assorted weapons, 4 anti-aircraft guns, and one rocket-propelled grenade. Unfortunately, 3 soldiers paid the supreme price during the operation.

The MNJTF has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the people in the Lake Chad region. This operation is a testament to the task force’s determination to eradicate terrorism and restore peace to the region.
