According to Samuel Odenusi, Head of Commercial Laundry Business of LG Electronics in West Africa, Nigeria’s laundry sector has enormous potential for economic expansion. Odenusi highlighted the dry cleaner industry’s potential to generate jobs and income, especially with the correct infrastructure and government assistance, when speaking at a masterclass for the industry hosted by CleanAce Foundation and Academy in partnership with LG.

The need for washing services is increasing along with Nigeria’s population. In order to open up more chances in the industry, Odenusi asked the government to create a supportive business environment, particularly for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs).

He said, “Helping SMEs will help create wealth and jobs.” LG’s partnership with CleanAce is centered on giving participants the tools and expertise they need to operate profitable businesses.

The Fabric Professionals and Dry Cleaners Association’s chairman, Enibikun Adebayo, noted that the industry is currently valued at $1.8 billion in 2024 and is expected to increase to $3 billion over the following ten years. As one of the biggest employers of workers in the nation, he urged the government to aid in the growth of the sector.

To promote self-employment, Adebayo also emphasized the necessity for colleges to provide practical training in dry cleaning and laundry. He urged the government to take action to encourage younger people to work in the industry, saying, “This industry can generate significant employment.”

The laundry sector is well-positioned to attract investment, generate employment, and support Nigeria’s economic growth via alliances like that of LG and CleanAce.
