JEDC, ongoing grid breakdown has an impact on DisCo operations.
According to the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC), the ongoing national grid failure is having an effect on the revenue generated by distribution companies (DISCOs).

This was said by Dr. Elijah Adakole, Head of Company Communications at JEDC, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Saturday.

Adakole provided an example, stating that nearly all of JEDC’s customers are on the company’s pre-paid metering system, meaning they only pay for the energy they use.

He bemoaned the fact that without power to distribute to customers, there would unavoidably be no revenue collected, which would result in losses.

Adakole underlined that as the majority of businesses rely on electrical energy at both the macro and micro levels, the ongoing grid failure also has a catastrophic effect on the financial system.

Thus, he called on the federal government to resolve this issue in a sustainable manner.

Civil society activist Mr. Steve Aluko also spoke, emphasizing that the grid’s frequent failures must be taken very seriously because they have disastrous effects on the country’s economic development and citizens’ well-being.
