The Islamic High School Old Students Association has urged Oyo State police officials to avoid allowing people who had no direct involvement in the Ibadan stampede to be held in custody for an extended period of time.
Dr. Bayo Busari, the group’s national president, signed the statement in which the association made the appeal.
According to our source, a rush that took place in the school resulted in the confirmed deaths of at least 35 students. In relation to the event, eight persons have been taken into custody.
In response, Busari commended the Oyo State administration and police for their audacious actions. He asked the police to carry out a serious, thorough, and professional investigation.
This inquiry aims to provide preventive measures against a future occurrence in addition to determining the responsibility of persons or organizations engaged in the event’s organization.
“Police should make sure that people who were invited for questioning but had nothing to do with the incident don’t remain in custody for longer than is necessary,” he stated.
