Prof. Ibrahim Umara Gudumbali, the co-chairman of Borno State Flood Relief, has warned that floodwaters may have brought explosives into the area and urged people affected by the flood to exercise caution while cleaning up.

A huge explosion in the Gwange area this morning prompted the warning. Residents were removing massive amounts of sand that had been deposited in their homes by the floods and clearing debris when the explosion occurred.

Community members were advised by Prof. Umara to be extremely cautious when cleaning their homes and environs and to be on the lookout for any suspicious materials. He underlined how important it is for impacted families to put safety first while the area is being cleaned up after the storm.

Prof. Umara issued a severe caution to the inhabitants, telling them not to move or touch any strange objects they came across while clearing debris. He emphasized that these items should be reported to the authorities right away because they may be dangerous.

Prof. Umara confirmed the explosion in Gwange but did not specify the number of people killed or injured. Instead, he advised the public to exercise caution and notify local authorities of any strange discoveries so that appropriate action can be taken.
