Dr. Peter Mbah, Governor of Enugu State, has lamented the untimely death of Ogene singer Chikezie Mba, well known as Igbo-Jah, and has ordered a full investigation into the tragic event.

The young singer was reportedly shot by a police officer as he left the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad following what the authorities described as a “friendly visit.

Mbah turned to social media on Saturday to express his condolences to the deceased’s family, emphasizing that he has ordered a thorough investigation into the situation.

“I was deeply saddened to learn of the premature passing of Okezie Mba, also known as Igbo Jah, in extremely unfortunate circumstances. It is a great loss for us, Ndigbo in general, and Ndi Enugu in particular.

“He was one among the Enugu and Igbo geniuses that helped to popularize Igbo culture through ogene music.

“I have been briefed by the police, and I have also ordered a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure justice for him, his family, and fans all over the world.”

“On behalf of Ndi Enugu, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family and followers. The governor wrote, “May God grant his soul eternal repose.”
