One of the causes of Nigeria’s hydra-headed developmental problems, according to Faseru, the resident pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre in Lagos, is a lack of vision.
The preacher stated on Monday’s episode of Channels Television’s The Morning Brief that “we have a leadership problem, we have leaders’ problem, we’ve definitely had followership problem, and we also have a management problem.”
Politicians and government officials, according to Faseru, have not succeeded in creating a lasting vision for Nigeria; instead, they have only attempted to revive the vision of the nation’s founders, which is almost out of date.
According to the preacher, leaders cannot command the allegiance and respect of their people without a clear goal for advancement.
“We cannot ignore the lack of clear vision,” he stated, adding that he was not referring to four-year vision when he spoke of vision. “Where do you think our leaders want to take Nigeria in 20 years?” is a question you can ask everyone in the area. I doubt many people will be able to explain that.
“During their campaigns, government leaders make unrealistic promises to complete everything in four years. We are not serious about what we want to do if you have a four-year plan for a nation like ours, considering the number of defeats we have had over the years.
Thus, for a nation such as ours, there ought to be a 20-year plan, a 25-year plan, and a 50-year plan. The difficulty we face today is the result of all those factors together.
He asked, “I did say that we have leaders’ problem in the sense that ‘do we have leaders?'” Politicians are no longer visionaries but just managers of the economy.
