According to reports, Ola Olukoyede, the chairman of the Commission, made this announcement at the opening of the 6th Annual Criminal Law Review Conference, which was hosted in Abuja by the Rule of Law Development Foundation.
Olukoyede disclosed that the terminations had taken place two weeks earlier and stressed that any staff discovered to have broken the law would not only be fired but would also be prosecuted going forward.
“There are a lot of other improvements underway, including the staff issue and others.
“I was responsible for the termination of two employees just two weeks ago. Your hands are filthy, therefore you cannot be battling corruption. When it comes to equity, you also need to have clean hands.
And because that is what we prosecute others for, I say that in addition to firing them, I will also bring charges against them.
We are compiling the case files of some of the individuals we have fired, so you will notice that,” he said.
Integrity is crucial for life, especially for legal professionals, the chairman of the EFCC said, adding that he was the subject of a two-year inquiry while serving as the EFCC secretary.
Additionally, he stated that he had issued a standing directive that stated that no more than 15 counts may be prosecuted.
