Olufemi Johnson, the Operations Director of Manufacturing Industry Canada and a manufacturer, stated that creamers are what Nigerians eat in place of milk.
In an interview with Channels Television on Thursday, Johnson mentioned this while discussing the difficulties Nigeria’s dairy business faces.
He claims that underinvestment has kept Nigeria’s dairy industry stagnant.
We are nowhere in Nigeria when it comes to the dairy industry.
We don’t have milk as a civilization, and children don’t get enough milk protein. Milk protein did not grow us. In Nigeria, what we refer to as milk is actually creamers. They are not fit to be referred to as milk.
“What is referred to as milk has a global standard. He said, “You don’t milk, milk, but bottle it.”
The prevalence of subpar milk in Nigeria has been bemoaned by experts.
Recall that the National Dairy Policy, 2023-2028 was introduced by the federal government in June 2024 in an effort to stimulate industry expansion.
