Former US President-elect Donald Trump’s attorney has begged outgoing President Joe Biden to pardon him, just as he did for his son Hunter.
Trump will punish Cohen for testifying against the politician in his hush money conviction, Cohen claims.
Years before, Cohen had already been found guilty of his involvement in the case.
Trump was found guilty of 34 criminal counts in the case last year, making him the prosecution’s star witness.
Before the 2016 presidential election, Cohen acted as a middleman in the $130,000 payment that Trump made to Stormy, an adult film star.
Mr. Cohen is urging Mr. Biden to grant him a presidential pardon before he leaves office, citing the fact that he and other members of Mr. Trump’s “enemies list” deserve pardons, similar to the full and unconditional pardon given to Mr. Biden’s son. Mr. Trump is scheduled to return to the White House in a week.
Cohen stated, “I applied for the presidential pardon because I think Joe Biden has the same obligation to be as he has to his son.” “Solitary confinement, which I endured for 51 days, is awful, so I would expect the same exact pardon he gave his son to me and everyone else on that enemies list, whether they want it or not.”
However, the disgraced attorney expressed his surprise at Trump’s unconditional release during sentence.
