Five persons have been killed in a fight between farmers and herders in the Kukta hamlet in Song LGA, Waltadi District, Adamawa State.
The altercation, which is believed to have taken place between the late hours of Saturday, October 27, and the early hours of Sunday, has left numerous people hurt.
The conflict, which was not previously connected to the district in question, resulted in the destruction of numerous valuable properties and the burning of houses.
SP Suleiman Nguroje, the Adamawa State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, verified the event Sunday afternoon, stating that CP Morris Dankombo, the state commissioner of police, had sent officers to the area and that the situation had been brought under control.
In a statement on the altercation earlier on Sunday, Nguroje mentioned the deployment of police to both ensure that things return to normal and look into what caused it.
He did not specify how many people were killed, only that the “violent altercation led to the loss of lives and destruction of property.”
According to available witness testimonies, the number of human casualties was five, but he had not yet revealed the police version of the number as of the time of publication.
