Rodri of Manchester City was declared the winner of the individual player award by its organizers.

But according to the 2024 Ballon d’Or standings, Vinicius came in second.

Since it was given to Rodri, a Spanish midfielder, in Paris, France, on Monday night, the award has elicited conflicting responses from football fans worldwide.

Vinicius and Real Madrid club members abstained from the award ceremony due to the development.

Benzema, who presently plays for Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League, said he spoke with Vinicius after the Monday night event and that the Brazilian was disappointed that he did not win the Ballon d’Or before Rodri.

He claims that Rodri hasn’t done anything particularly noteworthy to impress him.

“I talked to Vini, and he’s depressed. It’s also typical. He was deserving of the Ballon d’Or.

“I don’t dislike Rodri; he’s a good player. However, Rodri doesn’t do anything that makes you exclaim, “Wow!” while I’m sitting on my couch watching TV, Benzema tells @elchiringuitotv.

Aguero and Guardiola Discuss Real Madrid’s Response To The 2024 Ballon d’Or
Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, stated that he respects Real Madrid’s choice to not attend the Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday, October 28.

Rodri, a Spanish midfielder for Manchester City, won the prize before Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, and Dani Carvajal of Real Madrid.

A panel of 100 voters, consisting of coaches and journalists from around the globe, chose Rodri.

Real Madrid chose not to go because they knew the result beforehand, therefore there were no representatives to accept the Gerd Muller trophy for Kylian Mbappe and the Men’s Club of the Year honor for the Spanish powerhouses.

“It’s up to them,” Guardiola said in response to the scenario. We appreciate it if they decide to congratulate us. If not, that’s also OK. At Manchester City, we honor the choices made by other teams.

At the 2024 Ballon d’Or, former Argentina striker Sergio Aguero shared his thoughts on Real Madrid’s response to Rodri’s triumph.

He characterized the club’s reaction as being a little entitled, particularly after they canceled their participation after finding out Vinicius would not receive the prize.

“Rodri is the best player in the world,” Aguero said, underscoring the fact that Rodri’s accomplishment was well-earned. Real Madrid should understand that everyone has a right to play football, not only them.
