Aisha Yesufu, the coordinator of the Bring Back Our Girls Movement, has characterized well-known Nigerian singer Seun Kuti as a result of Fela’s lack of discipline.
In response to Seun’s recent comments regarding her support of women’s rights in Nigeria, Aisha made this statement.
The singer had previously expressed disagreement with Yesufu over her views on women’s liberation, adding, “liberate yourself from your Hijab first.”
“Seun Kuti wants to trend with my name as his karaoke business no make him blow alongside those wey dey do music,” Yesufu wrote in a series of postings on her X handle in response to Seun’s remarks.
“I don’t hold him responsible! We wouldn’t have to deal with the fallout from his father’s lack of discipline.
“Someone who wants to see a caricature of his father even though they can’t have the real thing is the reason they book me.”
Seun is the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
