Police in Abuja have arrested Martins Otse, a social critic and internet influencer who goes by the handle VeryDarkMan, after he accepted their invitation on Wednesday.
Despite widespread scepticism regarding this viewpoint, VeryDarkMan has long claimed that “the Nigerian Police are our friends,” according to his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, who confirmed the story. ”
After accepting the police invitation, our client, VDM, was taken into custody,” Adeyanju said. Although many disagree, he has continuously argued that we should see the Nigerian Police as our partners.
VeryDarkMan previously apologised to the police for wearing a uniform that looked a lot like theirs in a video.
He counselled Nigerians to always get consent before donning anything that could be seen as official police attire.
