Ten suspected trafficking victims were saved by the Nigeria Immigration Service’s Jigawa State Command (NIS) during a midnight raid in Babura Local Government.

CIS, the State NIS Comptroller. Musa revealed this to reporters in his Dutse office.

According to him, the interception is based on the work done by the “Operation Salama” team in Naira Tsamiyar Kwance in the Babura Local Government Area on January 12, 2025.

He claimed that the victims, who included two men and eight women, were traveling to Europe illegally.

CIS. Musa clarified that the victims are from Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, and Imo States and range in age from 21 to 30.

They are: Wisdom Chikwuemeka, 29 years old from Imo State; Lateef Jumoke, 30 years old from Ondo State; Alatise Damilola, 29 years old from Oyo State; and Emyola Adeoye, 24 years old from Ogun State.

“The others are Soneye Abigeal, who is 22 years old, Ogunleye Temitope, who is 29 years old, Osirowo Rebecca, who is 21 years old, Oniyide Kabirat, who is 27 years old, and Azizat Adaranijo.”

According to him, questioning showed that they were being trafficked from different places to Kano and then to Babura, with the intention of entering the Niger Republic, Libya, and finally Europe through the Mediterranean Sea.

For rehabilitation and additional research, the victims have been turned over to NAPTIP, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.

The Command urged parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children and keep them from becoming victims of human trafficking and illegal migration, expressing alarm over the growing number of these instances during a media conference.

Nonetheless, the Command underlined its continued dedication to lowering unauthorized migration in the state.
