The ministerial nominees that President Bola Tinubu sent to the Nigerian Senate last week will be reviewed by the Senate today.

On October 24, Tinubu sent a letter to the upper house of parliament requesting that seven ministerial nominations be screened and then confirmed.

During Thursday’s plenary, the request—which was in a letter to Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President—was read.

Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Minister of Labor and Employment; Bianca Odinaka Odumegu-Ojukwu, Minister of State, Foreign Affairs; and Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, are among the ministerial nominees.

The others are Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, Minister of State, Housing; Idi Maiha, Minister of Livestock Development; Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad, Minister of State, Education; and Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Development.

Reports state that the Department of State Services, or DSS, has approved the nominations.

On Monday, a few of the nominees were seen submitting their curriculum vitae at Senator Basheer Lado’s office, which serves as the Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters.
