Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the general elections of 2023, claims that power disruptions and expensive petroleum goods may make poverty in Nigeria worse.

In a Sunday post on X, Obi emphasized that the detrimental effects of the frequent power outages on companies, particularly small firms, are unthinkable.

The former governor of Anambra State bemoaned the complete blackout that has been affecting northern Nigeria for a number of days.

“There is still a great deal of anxiety about the ongoing power outages in many areas of the nation, especially in the Northern and Eastern States as well as South-South states.

It is impossible to imagine the detrimental effects of the ongoing power outage on companies, particularly small enterprises, who rely heavily on the public power supply to maintain their operations as a source of income.

“This power crisis is still a deadly recipe for widespread business failure and rising poverty in the nation, especially when combined with the current high cost of petroleum products and a harsh operating environment,” he tweeted.
