According to President Bola Tinubu, Nigerian drivers can now pick between buying compressed natural gas (CNG) for N200 per standard cubic meter or gasoline for N1,000 per liter.
At a meeting with Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company (NIPCO) officials at State House in Abuja, the news was made.
Drivers in Nigeria can purchase gasoline for N1,000 per liter or N200 per standard cubic meter.
Tinubu reportedly stated, “We have also introduced incentives for commercial motorists to convert from petrol to gas” at no cost, according to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga.
The President praised NIPCO’s efforts to promote the country’s energy transition, especially their assistance for the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI).
In order to improve energy efficiency and economic progress, President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating an atmosphere that is favorable for private sector investments and growing Nigeria’s CNG infrastructure, the statement continued.
He also urged NIPCO to keep up its creative strategy for expanding CNG while assisting the government’s more general energy-related objectives.
The delegation’s leader, Mr. Ramesh Kasangra of NIPCO, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his unwavering support of the CNG industry.
In order to keep Nigeria’s energy transition on course, he reaffirmed NIPCO’s commitment to strengthening its collaboration with the government.
“He assured the president that the company was ready to invest in infrastructure to make CNG more accessible nationwide.
He claims that NIPCO has played a significant role in a number of Nigerian industries for over four decades and will continue to believe in Nigeria for the long term.
