In light of the country’s economic and other difficulties, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the most recent election, has voiced disappointment at President Bola Tinubu’s absence.

On October 2, Tinubu left Nigeria for a two-week working vacation in the UK as part of his yearly leave.

The president reportedly spent more than a week in the UK before departing for Paris, France, where he was scheduled to attend a “important engagement.”

In a statement on Friday, two weeks after leaving the country, Obi questioned why the president had not returned.

“The President informed us that his absence would only last 14 days. We are still waiting for him to arrive in the nation after the fourteen days have elapsed.

Given the amount of work that has to be done in a country as unstable as ours, one would have expected him to return sooner rather than later.

He declared, “We need his urgent attention to steer the nation out of this current situation because of the unimaginable hardship that has been unleashed on our people as a result of some of his administration’s policies.”
