TUC Lagos Chairman Gbenga Ekundayo and Secretary Aladetan Abiodun praised the governor in a joint statement released on Friday for recognizing the need to raise the minimum wage to reflect the needs of the state’s workers.

The union was upbeat about the next talks and emphasized how crucial it is to uphold justice and respect for one another at all times.

Ekundayo and Abiodun reaffirmed the union’s dedication to cooperating with the government to guarantee that the end result benefits workers and is long-term for the state.

Although we have noted the ₦85,000 offer, we are eager to start talking about this crucial issue at our next meeting on Monday, October 21.

“Organised Labour is still optimistic that we can reach a more solid conclusion that takes into account Lagos’s economic realities as well as the contributions of its employees through productive discussion.

“We are prepared to cooperate with the government to guarantee that the result is advantageous to the employees and long-lasting for the state.

“We are still dedicated to making sure that the greatest standards of accountability and transparency are upheld in this process.

“We believe that our engagement with the government will yield an outcome that truly reflects the value of its workforce and the need to improve their living conditions,” the statement said in part. “The welfare of workers is paramount.”
