Two kidnapping suspects have been taken into custody in the state by agents of the Amotekun Corps, also known as the Ondo State Security Network Agency.

Following their kidnapping of four victims along the notorious Owo/Ose highway, the kingpins were apprehended.

The Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, revealed that he led the operatives in working with some local hunters to apprehend the alleged kidnappers and free the victims while parading the suspects at the corps headquarters in Akure, the state capital.

Adeleye claimed that the suspects had been frightening farmers and drivers on the Elegbeka/Ifon road.

The commander disclosed that the accused acknowledged that in August, they had obtained a ransom of N1.2 million from a few victims.

He insisted that before being apprehended, the suspects engaged the Amotekun operators in a gunfight.

“There was a reported kidnapping along a well-known route one day before the rescue. Our group quickly assembled, working with nearby hunters.

We searched the forest that was thought to be home to the victims. We were able to successfully rescue four persons before the conclusion of the day.

The identification of two of the individuals who were taken into custody was what gave this operation extra significance. These are verified kidnappers, no longer just suspected ones.

The Commander emphasized that “these criminals had been arrested before but somehow managed to return to the same locality” and named the suspects as the same people who had abducted people in the region in the past. Currently, we have them again.
