To represent Nigeria at the 79th United Nations General Assembly, or UNGA, Vice President Kashim Shettima has traveled to New York, USA.

His spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha, made this revelation in a statement on Monday.

He claims that in the early hours of Monday, the Vice President landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport and was greeted by a number of people, including Nigerian diplomats, UN representatives, and Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, and Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani, Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

President Tinubu has opted not to attend the UNGA this year.

Shettima will head Nigeria’s mission to the UNGA this year, where Tinubu has instructed him to make the country’s national declaration and take part in a number of high-level meetings.
