Dr. Nasir Idris, the governor of Kebbi State, has maintained that his administration has not disregarded the state’s educators.

During his announcement that 1,954 schools throughout the state would be renovated and built within 20 months of his taking office, the governor made this claim.

This information was revealed by Governor Idris on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi while speaking to 1,125 APC delegates from 225 wards spread across the 21 LGAs in the state.

“Of the 1,954 schools, 1,618 were renovated while 336 new ones were constructed,” the governor said, breaking down the projects.

“Any suggestion that I have neglected teachers should be disregarded by the people of Kebbi State. The N18,000, N30,000, and N70,000 minimum wages for teachers were put into effect by my administration, which also made sure that no teacher was left without pay or benefits.

The governor also emphasized a significant decision of his administration that distinguished Kebbi from other states: raising the retirement age for teachers to 65 or 40 years of service.
